Building custom rods started as a hobby 30 years ago for master rod builder D. O. Norton. O. Norton are typically less cost than a factory built rod and offer the customer the ability to choose their own reel seats, handles, guides and the rod wrap colors. In addition, customers can request halogenic fish decals, inscriptions (Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, etc...) as well as their own name on the custom built rod.
D. O. Norton offers a full 100% warranty on all custom built rods as well as 100% full satisfaction guarantee. Although D. O. Norton will be happy to give you a quote using any manufacturers blank or components, he specializes in G. Loomis, Sage, St. Croix, Shakespeare, Benchmark and Sevier blanks.
G Loomis & St. Croix Flyrods
"All Custom Built G Loomis flyrod quotes are based on anodized Pacific Bay or Sevier reel seats (all metal or metal with wood inserts), single well or double well cork handles, (7 wt and up also include screw on cork fighting butt), hookholder, 1-2 Hopkins & Holloway or Fuji stripper guides, 8-10 single foot or snake wire guides, wire loop tip top and choices of up to 3 colors of wrapping thread. Names are included at no additional charge".
G Loomis Spinning, Casting & Flipping rods
"All Custom Built G Loomis spinning, casting or flipping rod quotes are based on portuguese cork handles, fuji reel seats, cork foregrips, hookholder, 6-10 fuji guides, fuji tiptop and up to three colors of wrapping thread. Names are included at no additional charge".

SAGE Flyrods
"All Custom Built SAGE flyrod quotes are based on Strubel reel seats, fine portuguese single well or double well cork handles (Strubel cork fighting butts on 7wt rods and higher), hookholder, Hopkins & Holloway stripper guides, TiCH single foot or snake guides, large loop TiCH tip top and up to three choices of wrapping thread. Names are included at no additional charge".
